How Condor fits in now

For years, Condor Ferries was the single name for ferries to both Jersey and Guernsey. That changed in 2025: Jersey moved to DFDS, while Condor became part of Brittany Ferries.

Today, the Condor brand runs the Guernsey services under Brittany Ferries ownership. So if you're booking Guernsey you'll travel with Condor/Brittany Ferries; for Jersey, you'll travel with DFDS.

The ships

Condor's fleet mixes fast and conventional ships:

  • Condor Voyager and Condor Liberation: high-speed ferries for the quick Poole crossings
  • Commodore Clipper and Islander: conventional ships for the longer Portsmouth sailings, with cabins for overnight crossings
  • Onboard: restaurants, bars, duty-free shopping and seat or cabin upgrades on the longer routes

Booking and travel tips

A few practical things worth knowing:

  • Check the operator: after the 2025 change, confirm you're booking the right operator for your island and date
  • Book ahead: summer and school holidays are busy, and space is limited
  • Vehicles: cars are carried on the main routes, with no baggage charges
  • Pets: carried, with rules varying by ship and route
  • Photo ID: required for the Channel Islands, even without a passport from the UK

Condor or DFDS?

It comes down to your island. For Guernsey, you'll travel with Condor, now part of Brittany Ferries, from Poole or Portsmouth. For Jersey, the operator is now DFDS, from St Malo, Poole or Portsmouth. If you're combining both islands on one trip, you may use both operators, so book each leg accordingly. Learn more in our Channel Islands guide.
